Character Profile: Blair
Name:  Blair Reynolds
Age: 17 years old
Physical Description:  Blair has shoulder-length light brown hair like her mom and brown eyes like her brother, Andrew.  She has an average build, and is your typical 17 year old in regards to appearance.  Blair doesn’t primp much, unless she thinks she’ll be seeing Everett.  It’s much easier for her if she pulls her hair back into a ponytail and pulls on a clean shirt and jeans.  Although she likes flip-flops in the summer, she’s been known to wear cowgirl boots…especially while working at the ranch with Grandpa.  Sometimes, she’s got those boots on with a pair of shorts.
Location:  Blair lives in a small, inconsequential town somewhere north of Houston, Texas.  What’s the town’s name?  Why, it’s Willis, of course! ;-)
Who She Lives With:  Blair lives with her mother and brother, Andrew.  Her mother is a widow.  She had another brother, Aaron, who was Andrew’s twin.  But he died the night their father died.  You’ll have to read Cicada to see how and why they both died that fateful night.
Likes:  Blair loves working with animals and plans to be a large animal veterinarian one day and take over Grandpa’s clinic.  She has worked with him in his clinic and on his ranch since she was a small child, and she knows a great deal about horses and cattle…and how to use a bovine tranquilizer dart.  Blair also likes Everett…very, very much.

keyword scriptech net resized 600Over the weekend I was looking for a book on Amazon and I could not find what I was looking for.  I was searching for a newly released title, so I expected that the Amazon Search may not pull it right up at the top of my inquiry however, I was more concerned for the long-term search results for this book as the author had not associated any keyword “tags” for his title.  I don’t want to name names, but I will tell you this.  The title I was looking for is one of the only books on the subject matter that covers an historic event that no one else has written about.  Huge marketing opportunity for this book and the author did not include the name of the historic event in his marketing copy or in his Amazon keyword tags.  It got me fired up.

Cicada Holiday Companion Story
By Belle Whittington

Christmas in our small, inconsequential, southeast Texas town is usually a cold and rainy time of the year.  In retrospect, the snow and sleet that covered everything, including the haunted forest, in a blanket of white must have been a harbinger that everything was about to change.  However, at the time we thought it was a good omen.  At the time we thought that all the sadness of losing our father and brother would finally disappear and we could recall the memories of Christmases past without shedding tears or hiding the pain under a pillow at night when all the rest of the world had fallen asleep, dreaming of sugar-plums and Santa Clause.

The Blurb from Goodreads: Summertime had always been carefree and fun for Blair Reynolds and her friends—until they came upon something that was not human. As the group of friends band together in a fight for their lives, Blair’s true love becomes something more than human…something unnatural. And their existence relies on their ability to keep a secret.
The Review:  Cicada is one of them novels that before you start, you know nothing about. Even before reading the blurb….it doesn’t really give you an insight of what the story is actually about. I’m not quite sure what I was expecting but boy was I shocked when I found out.
